Why would there be clumps floating at the top of the wort during the boil?

If you see any clumps or coagulated/precipitated proteins floating in your wort, this is completely normal and is called hot break material.

If you don't want this material going into your fermenter, you can skim this away, but it will settle away on its own during fermentation.
