Do I need to passivate the equipment?
There is no need to passivate the equipment, as this is done in production.
Please thoroughly clean your equipment with Grainfather High-Performance Cleaner before use.
There is also no need to sanitise or pasteurise your Grainfather brew kettle before brewing. Bacteria and other pathogens will be neutralised at any temperature above 71°C (160°F) for at least 20 minutes or longer.
Since most homebrewing recipes call for a rolling boil (typically 100°C/212°F depending on elevation) for 60 minutes or longer, the boiling process will neutralize any bacteria or pathogens in the wort.
