How often do I replace the propylene glycol in my GC4?
We recommend checking the glycol in your Glycol Chiller after 6 months of continuous use to maintain proper cooling efficiency.
check the density of the glycol mixture is between 1.035 and 1.042 and that the glycol has not discoloured or has debris.
if the density is out of specification add water or glycol until the density is in the correct range.
if the glycol mixture has discoloured or has debris then it is best to do a full replacement of the water-glycol mixture.
How to replace and remove glycol from the GC4;
- Turn off the pump for all fermenters and disconnect them.
- Connect the included silicone hose to the glycol mixture outlet connection (silver in colour with blue cap) under number 4.
- In to a bucket, place the free end of the hose and press the number 4 to start the pump.
- Pump out the glycol mixture until the unit beeps (NOTE: For any reason, the unit doesn’t beep, make sure you are not pumping out glycol for more than 5 minutes).
