Simply leave your Element Variation Switch on 'Normal' at all times.

The new controller will change between elements as it needs to instead of you manually controlling this as you would have with the original. 

On another note if you have upgraded, you may need to adjust the positioning of the lugs on the back of the controller too, to fit.
