We often use scaling by efficiency when we change brewing equipment.
The mash or brew house efficiency is often different not only between brewing equipment but also people's brewing habits. If you are going to use a recipe from someone else, it is a good idea to look at the efficiency used for the equipment and see if that works against the efficiency you see with your brewing equipment.
To scale based on efficiency:
- On the website, select the recipe from the 'My Recipes' section and select 'edit recipe' from the menu at the top of the page.
- Once the edit page has loaded, you will be able to select ‘Scale’ from the menu at the top of the page.
- From the pop-out window, select the heading ‘Efficiency'. Enter your target efficiency and click ‘Scale’ at the bottom of the pop-out window.
